Virginia currency, Corporation of Richmond, Richmond, Virginia, $2, April 19, 1861.

Currency was issued by the local government of Richmond, Virginia, April 19, 1861, "CORPORATION OF RICHMOND / Promise to pay to the Bearer / TWO DOLLARS / when presented ??. / Receivable in City Taxes."

The note depicts graphic artwork, image of John Letcher, Virginia Governor, black print, on plain paper, pink overlay covers nearly the entire note making it very difficult to read, plain back. Month and year is printed, day is hand inscribed, serial number is hand inscribed, signature is hand signed. Printing: Printing: "Hoyer & Ludwig, Richmond, Va".
